What is Head Start?
Head Start is a Federal program that promotes the school readiness of children from birth to age five, and is funded through the Department of Health and Human Services. Head Start provides early childhood development services to children and families, with special emphasis on promoting school readiness in the areas of language and cognitive development, early reading, science and mathematics, social skills and physical development.
